Communication Activities P9

The ability to communicate effectively is an important skill. In P9, we seek to understand and to be understood. Our 8 lovely students: Sam, Jeremy, Lee, Jacob, George, Callum, Charbel and Eme all choose to communicate in their preferred way, for example through Proloquo2Go, Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) or speech. Through activities such as cooking, playtime, story time and digital technologies, students in P9 feel motivated to improve their intentional communication, such as to express their needs or to ask questions. The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) program is also a big focus in P9, which means plenty of rewards are awarded for demonstrating the school’s expectations such as “asking for help” and “using our manners”. We have already noticed a significant improvement in not only communication skills but also interpersonal skills in P9 since the start of the year.
