Every year in April, Bulleen Heights School celebrates World Autism Month by holding our annual ‘Hoodie Up’ Day which promotes understanding, acceptance and inclusion of Autism. Students and Staff alike don on Hoodies in solidarity with students who can be particularly sensitive to and overwhelmed by certain types of sensory stimuli. Being able to block out some of the sensory overwhelm they experience by wearing a hoodie or putting on a hat can make the world of difference and make them to feel comfortable, calm and regain their focus.
Hoodie up Day fosters a supportive learning environment, promotes inclusion and collaboration, enhancing student learning and self-awareness.
