This year in P15 we have worked hard to provide an environment that not only creates a foundation for our students to get the most out of their learning, but also allows them some control in how that learning takes place. An important part of this philosophy is the creation of our Flexible Learning Room. This room, separate to our classroom, is set up with multiple learning areas, each designed to better suit individual sensory needs and learning styles. It consists of, amongst other things, exercise balls, lap tables, beanbags, and standing desks, providing our students with an opportunity to choose what type of learning space works best for them at that particular time. We have found that having this flexible classroom, along with 1:1 iPads, and interactive teaching through apps such as Seesaw, has helped our students to work collaboratively, communicate more, and engage in a more meaningful way.
